About IRIS Safeguarding
We share a strong belief that every child and adult deserves to be safe, heard and protected, and that everyone has a role to play in making that possible. We believe safeguarding knowledge should be understandable, accessible and practical, empowering every professional to recognise their role and contribute confidently to keeping people safe.
People safeguard people.
Effective safeguarding requires more than good intentions. It depends on professionals having the knowledge, confidence and support to make informed decisions in often complex and uncertain situations.
People who work with children and adults at risk do so because they want to make a difference. Yet when safeguarding concerns arise, even the most experienced professionals can feel overwhelmed and unsure of the right course of action.
Whilst we have enormous respect for organisational policies, procedures and statutory guidance, which provide the foundations for good safeguarding practice, it's important to remember that policies don't safeguard people. People do.
Strong safeguarding cultures aren't created by employing a handful of safeguarding specialists. They're created when every professional understands the role they play and feels able to fulfil it. When people have the confidence to use their professional curiosity and act on their concerns, even small actions can change lives.
Every day, children and adults at risk interact with professionals who have the opportunity to make a lasting difference through seemingly ordinary interactions. Most safeguarding isn't about one dramatic intervention. It's about countless small moments where someone notices, asks and acts.
It only takes one professional. They simply need to feel able to do so.
Why IRIS Safeguarding?
With IRIS Safeguarding, it's about more than responding to safeguarding concerns. It's about creating the conditions for psychologically safe, thoughtful conversations where people feel able to think openly, challenge respectfully, acknowledge uncertainty and learn together.
The aim isn't simply to provide answers. Sometimes the greatest value lies in creating the clarity, confidence and professional curiosity that allow those answers to emerge over time.
That's why everything we do is guided by four core values:
Curiosity
Asking why, not just what.
Courage
Speaking up, challenging respectfully and advocating when someone needs it most.
Compassion
Treating the people we support, ourselves and one another with kindness, empathy and understanding.
Reflection
Taking time to think, learn and strengthen practice.

Supporting practitioners with curiosity, courage, compassion and reflection.
We are Arusha and Rosie, friends and colleagues who have worked alongside each other since 2019. Our professional backgrounds are different but complementary and over the years we've worked collaboratively, learning from each other and bringing different perspectives to complex safeguarding practice.
We created IRIS Safeguarding from a shared belief that professional support should reflect the way we support each other in our own working lives: a space where people feel safe to ask questions, explore uncertainty, challenge thinking and know that they don't have to navigate safeguarding alone.
Our experience spans children, adults and families across health and multi-agency settings. Arusha brings a passion for engaging, inclusive training, with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusive learning for all. Rosie brings a deep commitment to high-quality, reflective and restorative safeguarding supervision. Together, we combine these strengths to provide training, supervision and consultancy that builds knowledge, confidence and professional judgement.
